Get In Front Of The Camera More

I think one of the best ways to develop self love is to get in front of the camera more. I know that’s scary, but let’s talk about it.

I watched a TikTok months ago that talked about when you’re uncomfortable wearing something, to wear it at home by yourself in front of the mirror. Eventually you become comfortable seeing yourself in said outfit and you start to realize it’s not all that bad, in fact, you actually look pretty cute.

Taking photos of yourself is the same way. Sure, not every image is going to turn out. I mean, have you tried taking a picture of the moon? It almost never comes out but that doesn’t diminish the moons beauty, right? The more you get in front of the camera, the more you get used to your own features and eventually even become comfortable in your own skin.

I started taking self portraits earlier this year and it’s definitely helped me learn to love every angle of myself. It’s scary taking my own photos because I really do see every single angle – good and bad. And it’s allowed me to appreciate every inch of me in every chapter of my life. AND a huge bonus, I’ll be able to look at these images when I’m old and wrinkly and remember just how beautiful I really was – and I’ll be able to show my children and grandchildren that their grandma used to be hot shit.

Get in front of the camera more. Give yourself grace. Give yourself time. Be patient. Remember that not every image is going to turn out the way you want it to (I take like 200+ images and end up w 20 good ones! It’s okay!) and remember that it’s not an overnight thing but the more you do it, the easier and more fun it gets 🖤

Happy photo taking!
