Thrifting and Thriving

July 26, 2021

You know what I LOVE to do? Thrift.

My mom used to bring me to goodwill when I was younger and I hated it. She eventually taught me HOW to shop at goodwill and once I figured that out, I never looked back. It may be tedious going through every single item on the racks, but it’s so incredibly rewarding when you find pieces that make your heart happy!

Recently I ended up at the Goodwill in Janesville (it’s one of my faves! I also recommend checking out the one in Delavan, WI) and had such an incredible haul. Out of the 10 or so things I found, 7 of the items fit me and I was so stoked! Two of the items were brand new with tags!

Obviously, you can’t hit up just ONE store, so I did a quick google search to see what else is in the area. That’s when I found my new favorite place – Threads! It’s a consignment shop in Janesville (like two minutes away from Goodwill) and it has the cutest lightly used pieces for goodwill prices – it’s incredible.

My favorite part is that it’s not overwhelming. The racks aren’t too packed so it’s really easy to sift through them. It also has a boutique feel so it doesn’t even feel like I’m thrifting! I also stumbled upon one of the best smelling candles ever (the cashier said it smells just like Anthropologie but I’ve never been there so I can’t confirm) and I’m hella stoked for my whole house to smell this good. I only walked out with tw pieces and a candle from there but I noticed there were S E V E R A L bins that had yet to be placed on racks so I’m pretty stoked to head back soon!

If you’re looking for new thrift shops, I highly recommend the ones I’ve mentioned above. I’ve also been recommended to check out Agrace (also in Janesville) but haven’t had the chance too. So if you do, let me know how it goes!

Good things come to those that thrift 😉

XOXO ~Amy~
